We are so excited to have recently announced our Meals and Special Experiences available at the Food Allergy & Celiac Convention. But we’re even more excited to be able to feature our breakfast sponsor, GF Harvest, a purveyor of pure, certified gluten-free oats and granolas. With a goal is that all families can find gluten free products they can trust, the family-built company with three generations of celiac disease personally knows the severe reaction one can have if cross-contaminated with compromised products.

Here’s a little more about the folks behind the company and why they do what they do, and we look forward to having them a part of the event!

1. What’s the most memorable time you’ve experienced with a GF Harvest fan?
My most memorable moment has to be with a family in Chicago. I met the grandma, mom, and little girl about 5 years ago. The little girl was very small and GF. We had No-Bake cookies for sampling and she kept coming back, but wouldn’t look at me. At the end of the show I gave her mom some extra cookies I had and then little girl was thrilled. The next year they came bag, and same thing happened. This time she would look at me just a bit. At the end I gave her a bag full of cookies. This has gone on for the 5 years and it wasn’t until this year that she talked to me. We got a picture together and she was going to put it in her journal. At the end of that show she got 283 No-Bake cookies, she could barely carry them.
2. They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. What GF Harvest products would you recommend to start your day off with a zip-a-dee-doo-dah?
Our most popular flavors are Maple and Almond, as well as Cherry, Cranberry, and Walnuts. My personal favorite is Cocoa-Nut. It has Cocoa, Coconut, and Almonds. We also have flavors that don’t have tree nuts in them and are packaged in a different facility.
3. Mickey and the gang are ready to head to the Disney Parks. What GF Harvest products are on their breakfast menu?
We will have a variety of Ready-To-Go Cups. All you have to do is add water. We will also have some of our granola, that the recipe has been passed down in our family.
4. We’re excited that you are sponsoring our Brer’s Breakfast Buffet and GF Harvest oats are on the menu. How do you top your GF Harvest oats?
I really like our flavors of our cups. These allow you to not need to top off them, but if I do too them off, I like to add a little milk and possibly some strawberries.
5. Tell us a little more about the background of GF Harvest. How did it all begin?
It all began as an FFA project when I was in high school in 2004. I needed to come up with a business for this project. A few other options didn’t work out and I decided that I wanted to give back to my fellow Celiacs. Since I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 1990. I never got to try a No-Bake cookie, so it began on our kitchen table. We supply people and businesses all around the world now and my family is a great test group, having over 10 family members diagnosed with Celiac Disease. This number includes both my parents. I guess you can say I brought the knowledge of Celiac Disease into our family and also the job of GF Harvest as well!
